Addicted to podcasts

I didn’t realize just how addicted to podcasts I would get. LOL I started off slow - when I listened to an internet radio program, I downloaded the audio file and played it on my computer. Fast foward to today and my video iPod is packed full of podcasts ranging from crafting to tech to news to working at home programs. I listen to radio programs and podcats by one person. I love this podcasting world!

As I was reading the Podnomics blog, Leesa posted about PodcasterSpace.com. She compared it to a MySpace but for podcasters. Of course, I signed up shortly after reading Leesa’s post. :) My profile on PodcasterSpace is filled out, but for the podcast URL - because I don’t have one. I think about podcasting weekly, but haven’t made the jump. I am sure that by the end of the year I will have one though.

Over at PodcasterSpace, I found someone who has a website with tips for you to succeed in podcasting. I immediately signed up for his newsletter and jumped into reading his “how to podcast” tutorial. I’ll let you know more once I get through it.

If you have a podcast or are interested in podcasting, head on over to PodcasterSpace.com and sign up today.

Firefox

You are using Firefox right? It is a great, open source web browser. I’ve only been using Firefox for about a year, but I am finding that the more customized I can make it and the more tricks I learn about it - the better it works for me. The most important feature of Firefox for me is the tabbed browsing. Previously with Internet Explorer, I would have window after window after window open - which was very annoying. Now I may have a handful (or more!) tabs open, but it is only one overall window.

Here are some tips to teach you how to use your mouse less when you are using Firefox, via LifeHacker. I am going to print these off and keep them in a place I can see them until I know them well enough. I do have a wireless mouse, but that only means it is all over the place as I adjust how I sit at the computer.I also found a Mozilla Firefox cheat sheet - it includes some basics such as keyboard shortcuts like control + c will copy whatever is selected.

These are both great to have because being able to use shortcuts is a nice addition to getting things done online faster and easier.

New Google Checkout

Google has launched their Checkout payment system. Here is a quick video tour so you can see what it is about. It looks great - one sign in to pay for items rather then merchant after merchant having your personal and credit card information. Plus other then paying for the items, you can track your purchases and look at your history directly from Google Checkout rather then going back to the individual merchant. I really like the idea of this being all in one place and the security of hidden email addresses and credit card information.
This looks like a good product, though I have to say there probably isn’t anything that comes from Google that I don’t like. Check it out today.
