Evernote

A month ago or so I was looking for a way to save ideas online, basically an online swipe file. I knew there had to be a way - I didn’t resort to copy and paste into word or notepad, though that is an idea.

I found Evernote via Lynette Chandler’s blog. It was just what I was looking for - a quick and easy way to swipe info online. I quickly downloaded the free version and began clipping from the web. Easy! All you have to do is highlight, right click save and bam, you are done.

Lynette’s blog always has great information about technology, be sure to read it. I am loving Evernote, I use it daily.

Keeping it under control - and it clicked

Have you looked at your bookmarks lately?

I used to add bookmarks to interesting or even useful websites, but I’d do the typical thing and never look at them again. I tried a couple of programs that would keep my bookmarks organized, but just couldn’t get into using the program separate of my web browser.

I’ve been using Firefox for a while now - long enough to not know the exact date that I ditched IE - and I use the tabbed browsing to keep track of the websites I typically visit each day. I’ve actually gone through those and narrowed them down to eight sites.

But I’ve also been utilizing my bookmarks better then I ever have before. And it’s not like Firefox has a better bookmark system. It just clicked.

So I spent a little time - really just a little - creating a handful of folders, deleted more then I care to share, and actually started using my bookmarks. It just clicked and I am loving it.

Breathing life into this

Okay I all but abandoned this blog and it’s time to get it going again!

Things on my plate have been full. We are still getting used to a South Carolina summer, hot is fine with me, humidity, eh, not so much! The kids are enjoying the weather because they are outside every day on their slip and slide. They love that thing. We didn’t play in the water too much in Washington simply because it never got HOT hot.

One of the best things happened - my husband got promoted! We just found out on Wednesday and are so very happy. He works really hard at his job and so deserved this promotion. He is still working many hours a week but you can tell he is happy he passed.

Let’s see, one new thing from me - my personal craft blog! Check out http://www.mebeingcrafty.com. I posted pictures of projects I’ve finished as well as what I am working on, swaps I am involved in and other craft things.

A great new message board to check out - Moms Talk Forum. It’s a great new message board, awesome people so hop right in!

I am working on designs for a handful of sites, but finishing a business plan as I need to stop doing the design. I enjoy it, I love being able to be creative and work online, but I’m focusing on that “what do I want to do when I grow up” thought I keep having. My business plan is coming along great and I’ll be finished and talking about that soon.

Big news! I am now a *graduate* of Mom Masterminds! It was a little bit of a surprise as I didn’t get notified by paypal that my subscription was over, but I did get a nifty MM Graduate button over at the forum. Check it out, Alice and Kelly - and everyone else there! - are such an amazing resource for WAHMs.

That’s it for now. :)
